About the project
Contract execution: Suriname River Dredging Project 2025 (SRDP2025) by Joint Venture Baggerbedrijf De Boer B.V. – Boskalis B.V.
The Suriname River is the main access to the port of Paramaribo. Due to ongoing siltation from the Amazon Delta, the depth is decreasing, making continuous dredging necessary. The Joint Venture has been dredging in Suriname since 2021, and this is the third contract.
The first two contracts involved deepening the river: SRDP2021 brought the depth to -4.5 m, followed by SRDP2022, which deepened the channel to -5.75 m, including maintenance work for two years.
The current contract, SRDP2025, concerns maintenance dredging until October 2030. We are responsible for maintaining the depth of -5.75 m along the 68-km-long channel and anchorage. This guarantees safe and smooth access from the sea to the ports of Paramaribo.
